Merry Christmas

Joan's Birthday today. I'm listening to her with her carers. She seems bright and happy.

If I don't come on again may I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy, safe and prosperous new year.

france

Tried to send a present to France yesterday. It included a bottle of perfume made in France and sold in England. Apparently this is a prohibited item and I am not permitted to. I did try.

Nov

An interesting sort of month. Joan is a little stronger in herself but prone to bouts of depression. I have started to battle our social services over false information they have given me about allowances.

Must write a letter to my local MP. I made a small contribution to his party funds so I can include that in my letter.

Weather is turning colder and wetter. Pluto doesn't seem to mind. I do. I'm getting old. Feel the cold.

Made a few new friends online. Some are good fun.

Met some people I knew over Thirty years ago at an Antiques Fair the other weekend. had a nice chat.

Pics.

a beautiful autumn day.

A little chillier than of late. Clear and bright. Ideal out with Pluto conditions, Joan hasn't been well these last few days. But she always bounces back. Bridgwater Carnival tonight. We are staying in well away from it. A TV in night. Doctor Who. Can't miss that. Wasn't sure of the new Doctor at first, I know him from some other shows, but he is growing on me. Some silly plots though.

Hungry

I am hungry. Day one of my diet. All I have had is two glasses of milk with added vitamins. I'm a growing lad. I need my food.

Went walking with Pluto this afternoon. He would pick up all sorts of things to eat. Just to rub it in. I should never of told him I was hungry.

I bought him some sausages from the supermarket. Ready cooked. I don't normally class them as fit for human consumption but he seems to like them. I got back to the car and opened the packet. oh the smell. my juices started flowing. gurgling sounds erupting from my stomach. I broke a piece off one and offered it to him. The wonderful aroma increased.

He turned his nose up at it. It was close but I put it back in the bag.

Time to start cooking Tea. Pizza. Five toppings.

Well, in an hour.

Did I tell you I was hungry.

Where did I put that sausage.

another car

tried out a second vehicle. went to see Joan and my old boss in a local garage. they were pleased to see each other.
it was a Peugeot Expert. A small van really. A bit of a tight squeeze for me. The diet started today. Complan with skimmed milk for two meals then undo all the good with a hearty dinner and wine. Pluto enjoyed his walk in the afternoon having missed out on his morning one due to the test drive.

The pics, which I am sure are really all you want to see.

a good day.

went down the Huntspill river for the first time in a three or more months. Nothing much had changed. Pluto enjoyed himself.

Had a trial in a small van fitted out for wheelchair users. Got Joan into the back by the tail lift, strapped her in and away we went. a short fifteen minute drive, stopping off to see The Mushroom man where Joan had her stroke. He was really pleased to se her. She loved her escape from the house. as it was a nice day we sat out in the rear garden for twenty mins when we got back.

One problem Vauxhall are bringing out a new model of the Vivara in four months and they will not release any vehicles until then. but they will only do a manual gearbox whereas I want an automatic. Looks like they have lost a sale.

Last of the summer colour at the front of the house.

The Bookmaker of desire
byPAUL C©

Say hello to the bookmaker of desire.

The one with whom you wager,
when you gamble with your heart.

Check his odds.
Do you think they're in your favour?

All that you can hope for,
is a good run for your money.

You have the pace,
but can you stay the distance?

The winning post,
so far and yet so near.

Say hello to the bookmaker of desire.

The one with whom you wager,
when you gamble with your heart.

Check his odds.
Are they ever in your favour?

Learning French

I just had 26 page views in a single day from France. I know that the reader/s can read English, unless of course they were just looking at the pictures. This system doesn't tell me if it were 26 people reading one page each or one person reading 26 pages. Just to be on the safe side I think it best I add to my vocabulary in French of 21 words. Maybe string enough words together to make a sentence. Not sure about reading and writing. Some have said I have a limited enough grasp of the English language not to confuse my brain with more words, Then there is of course spelling. There's a story.

Best limit myself to a few phases like 'Can you speak English.' 'How much?' 'pint please.' I have survived reasonably well in various parts of the world just knowing that.

I consulted Pluto. His look seemed to say it was all Greek to him.

So there we have it.

Have I posted this poem before?

The noise outside the door.

The couple writhe.
The couple pause.
Was that a noise,
Outside the door?

"He's out of town.
We have all night.
No need to worry.
Everything's alright."

The couple writhe.
The couple pause.
Was that a noise,
Outside the door?

"I heard something.
Have you a cat?"
"I only have one pussy.
This is that."

The couple writhe.
The couple pause.
Was that a noise,
Outside the door?

Locks are turned.
Doors are opened.
Words will follow.
Hearts are broken.

The couple writhe.
The couple pause.
Was that a noise,
Outside the door?

Scotland to remain in UK

Scotland has decided to remain a member of the UK. A chance for full employment in England missed. Had they voted to leave then they would have become non-EU citizens. To fall inline with EU rules then they would have to apply for visas and work permits which could be refused. A spot of positive discrimination on the part of the English and there would have been an ending of English unemployment for a generation.

Why treat them in this way you ask? If non EU citizens in Scotland are allowed unfettered access over boarders and in employment and housing. Then so would all non-EU citizens. The courts would become very busy.

Pluto agrees I think.

another thursday

Had some nice walks these past few days despite the weather.

Joan is stable. Not much more to say. A physio came and told her straight out that this was as good as it was going to get. She killed all her hope in two sentences. I've since spoken to her and she will not be coming back again.
