good walk

we had a good walk this morning. we went to Bradney and decided to go to the fields on the other side of the road to walk. we usually walk down this alleyway to get to the wa;l proper behind it.

We walked down this driveway to some fields further along. In fact if we walked for a mile we would be back at silverfish.

Pluto investigated everything. He has been here a couple of times before. But not for a couple of months so everything was fresh.

Play spot the Pluto.

we got back to the car.

about to drive away when the boys arrived. Charlie, Barney and BJ. and of course Bob. Pluto had fun. I had an extra 40 minute walk.

As I was up.

We went out for an 8am walk. First impressions are that it was cold. Lovely views. You can just make out the Quantock hills. Poets used to love this part of England. William Wordsworth, who spent much of his life amongst the lakes and mountains of the north of England was a frequent visitor. He would stay with his friend Samuel Taylor Coleridge who wrote most of his epic poem The Tale of The Ancient Mariner in his cottage on the Quantock hills.

The lock gates were open this morning and the water was flowing fast. The current was bringing down lots of green weeds from inland. There are times when I am glad Pluto doesn't swim.

Had the place to ourselves until part way through our return leg. Mollie, the fiesty Boxer, came along with her owner and a child in a pushchair. I decided to keep Pluto on his lead. He was very well behaved until the last few seconds then he decided he wanted to go with them. He stayed with me in the end.

Took a pic of myself this morning.

Not feeling too good myself this morning. Hope I haven't caught a chill. Feeling hot. and tired.

A rude awakening.

Tom Hanks is sitting on his backside in the middle of a garage forecourt. Just about to get to the bottom of this when something heavy starts to climb on top of me. There have been times when I would have welcomed this attention. not necessarily the tongue licking at my face. Although in the right circumstances it can be nice.

I look at my watch. 6.15. I didn't want to wake up. I am warm.

Bony feet and sharp claws into my chest.

Ok. I'm getting up.

Pluto has decided he is comfortable and doesn't want to get off me. Fortunately I still have some super strength left and lift him to the ground.

Breakfast for Joan, coffee for me, door open for Pluto to go out while I prepare his food.

Pluto is now curling himself up into a ball at my feet. He is content.

lovely, bright day

it was really nice out walking this morning. We had Bradney to ourselves for an hour. Didn't see a soul.

There was a lot of leaf debris.

Everything looked clear and bright.

We almost stopped at the picnic area.

It turned cloudy on the way back but Pluto enjoyed himself.

Back from shopping. Just time to write this then make Joan's lunch.

out of hospital

Joan is out of hospital. on sticks. Still in pain but happier to be home. I will have to stay close-by so shorter walks for Pluto. He was so pleased to see her.

Now to see what the future holds.

Checking the area

We seemed to have survived the storm. the odd branch down here and there.

The mat outside my front door moved, Nothing else did. Curious.

The village looked intact.

Leaves were blown off.

The river looked peaceful. We watched the Bull preparing a cow. There are certain similarities between how he was doing that and what we humans do.

The lone trees survived.

Off to see Joan. They might let her out.

the wind has gone

I don't know what the fuss was about. I had some whisky, fell asleep and didn't hear a thing.

After breakfast Pluto and I will venture out, camera in hand, and survey what damage there has been.

The lone trees

On our walk there is a tree that I call the lone tree because it stands alone by the riverbank. It isn't really alone as there are three trees in a tight group. but from a distance it looks to be alone. It looked nice this morning.

On our way back i took this pic of a tree that really is a lone tree. But as it isn't beside the riverbank we don't count it.

I hope they are still standing in the morning.

wind is picking up.

We had an early morning walk. well over an hour with stops for a chat with an Angler friend.

Pluto checked he had all his equipment set up correctly. I discussed with the Angler the cost of fishing. Apparently when Carp fishing it is normal to use three rods. The river board sells licences for pairs of rods. So to get three you must pay for four. Pluto looked confused. I tried to explain with biscuits but he ate them.

Pluto checking out the fishing tackle. Coming back with his report. Pity he'd ate all the biscuits.

We walked on. I told Pluto about the Hurricane and he decided to dig a hole.

Big storm ahead

Weather forecast is for Hurricane force winds this evening and overnight. Only one visit to Joan this afternoon. Going to batten down for the evening. Saw a lot of this type of weather when I spent two years living in Hong Kong.

Taking Pluto for an early walk. The clocks went back this morning. I don't think he understands that concept. I will have words with him.

At least it is not raining yet.

wife's progress

She bounces back from most of what life throws at her.

The Physio's got her out of bed and moving about a little on a zimmer frame. They say maybe tomorrow or the next day she can come home, with the zimmer. As long as she doesn't fall again. So we are getting there. She still looks very pale.

Nevermind. No point wishing for other things. This is her lot and mine. You must just get on with it.

We do have good Hospitals and wonderful, caring staff. Shame they don't provide patients with soap for washing. I've come home, fed Pluto and now a 20 mile drive back into the Hospital with a bar of soap. Another long day.

went for a walk

Pluto and I went to the Huntspill river. I like it there. two miles, as the crow flies, from where I was born. Had a good hour. met a nice woman who owns a horse and a dog. The horse wasn't well so she is taking him to Gloucester. The dog was very timid. Pluto mounted him and he let him. not just for a few seconds either. in the end I put Pluto on his lead. The woman didn't seem to mind it all. I wasn't sure about her dog.

He can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

I took some pics.

Swans feeding.

Pluto investigating the mysterious path. Between two field systems. Very muddy. He loves it.

Another visit to the hospital ahead. She wont be out today.
